"FIRST FLUSH" POLLUTANTS
Pollutants deposited on to exposed areas can be dislodged and entrained by the rainfall-runoff process. Usually the stormwater that initially runs off an area will be more polluted than the stormwater that runs off later, after the rainfall has 'cleansed' the catchments. The stormwater containing this high initial pollutant load is called the 'first flush'
StoneyCrete™ Pervious Concrete Pavement Systems can provide a fresh and environmentally friendly new look to residential and commercial properties. The reasons are simple. This pervious system can mitigate first flush pollution and manages stormwater by filtering the rain through the concrete and underlying soil which is a powerful filter and dynamic ecosystem that protects streams and aquifers from non point pollution.

StoneyCrete™ Pervious Concrete offers long life, safe non-slip texture, aesthetically pleasing versatility, reduced lighting needs (due to the light color of the product) and most importantly, keeps stormwater out of our overworked sewer systems and puts it back in the ground, where Mother Nature intended it to be.

Design and construction of such an important product as a stormwater management system requires a high degree of training and installation care. If you design stormwater management around pervious pavement insist on trained and certified installers. Hiring expert concrete finishers to install your stormwater management system might result in a nice looking parking lot. But will it be porous? Does the concrete finisher you hired even know what makes the concrete pervious? Do they know what will cause it to clog? Better yet will they know to tell you BEFORE they start about potential problems and offer suggestions to prevent future problems?

You would not ask the electrician who wired your house to build you a quality computer and you would not ask a beautician to perform plastic surgery on your face. Smart designers specify experts to make sure everything goes smoothly. StoneyCrete NW understands that so we teach all aspects of our water management system to installing contractors before they are even allowed to purchase our admixture. They are carefully supervised while in training so your project will look good and provide long life stormwater management for the customer. StoneyCrete™ specifications require certification. A copy of our specifications is located on this website so your can easily cut and paste it into your next project.

But before designing your next pavement contact us to hear what we are learning from our accelerated load tests. We put pavement to the real test- thousands of heavily loaded trucks. We punish our products so we know how it will hold up. We have pavements ranging from four inches to ten inches deep. Give us axle load (expected trips year) projections and we give you data to support a range of pavement sections.

It is exciting to know we are on the cutting edge of environmentally superior paving products and that our contractors are giving competitive quotes. With your help we can help world by letting storm water drain back into the ground to recharge aquifers instead of flushing pollutants out to sea.
